In Indonesia, Tropical Forest Alliance is working to reduce commodity driven deforestation and use collective efforts to promote sustainable development and strengthen land use governance.
TFA has brought together stakeholders from government, finance, the development community and smallholders to empower Indonesia’s agri-commodity traders in accelerating deforestation and conversion-free commitments. It includes strategic stakeholder mapping, policy briefs, and tools for small and medium-sized enterprises.
TFA is fostering knowledge exchange between Indonesian and Chinese traders and producers. Deliverables include district-level supply chain initiatives, policy briefs, actionable interventions to strengthen agri-commodity governance and support for the Sustainable Landscape Initiative.
TFA is driving dynamic multi-stakeholder dialogues at the district level to help empower national government and deepen private sector commitment to deforestation-free and conversion-free practices. The approach is sparking innovative financing solutions that can drive forest restoration and protection, while championing sustainable commodity trade and empowering local communities.
The Regional Technical Dialogue on the EU Deforestation Regulation in South-East Asia is supported by the “Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems” (SAFE) project, which the European Union, Germany, and the Netherlands fund. This project aims to facilitate an inclusive transition to sustainable, deforestation-free, and legal value chains within the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) framework. The Dialogue engages stakeholders from Indonesia, Malaysia, and PNG by invitation, as well as other countries. The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) is collaborating with partners to bring together stakeholders in the palm oil, rubber, and cocoa sectors through focus group discussions, technical workshops, and jurisdictional and regional events that address technical topics related to the EUDR.
