TFA Activities
Jurisdictional Exchange Network
Stopping deforestation requires action from many actors in a production landscape – the government, producers and processors, local communities and civil society organizations. Achieving transformative impact requires supply chain companies to broaden their efforts to complement individual supply chain action by engaging in jurisdictional approaches.
The TFA partner community drives multistakeholder collaboration in production landscapes critical for commodity sourcing, defines concrete opportunities for private sector engagement and investment in priority jurisdictions and builds greater alignment on monitoring and reporting frameworks.
The TFA supports our partners through:
- Coordination and alignment between existing jurisdictional initiatives
- Mobilizing private sector engagement in key production landscapes
- Showcasing progress to motivate and inspire others to get engaged

A jurisdictional approach can be described as the successful transition to sustainable development across an entire political geography. It differs from other sustainable development approaches in that it encompasses the full range of activities, production systems, ecosystems and actors within the jurisdiction. Key features include a high level of governmental involvement; multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder engagement to determine a shared vision of success; and alignment of public policies, business models and institutions to support jurisdictional transitions to sustainable development.
