REGIONAL PLATFORMS
Global
The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) works with partners from public, private and civil society actors, indigenous peoples, communities and international organizations catalysing high-impact partnerships to reduce commodity driven deforestation. On global level, TFA supports commodity coalitions to implement their commitments, catalyses the implementation of jurisdictional approaches, works with finance to reduce deforestation and facilitates the creation of demand-side policies.
Collective Supply Chain Action
The production of soft commodities is responsible for approximately 40% of tropical deforestation. Sole dependency on supply chain interventions by individual companies is not enough to address this. We need systemic efforts that can be accelerated through collective action by the entire supply chain.

Demand Side
Emerging markets represent an increasing size of global trade for forest risk commodities. For example, China alone represents 62% of soy imports, 32% of pulp & paper and 11% of palm. Further, the absence of a strong sustainability agenda as well as a growing leakage market that undermines progress in other markets and progress by the private sector to remove deforestation from supply chains call for action on the demand-side.
