Virtual TFA Dialogue

The dialogue event “Raising Ambition for Effective EU Policy to Protect the World’s Forests” took place on 23 July, 2.00-3.15pm CEST.

This dialogue session's agenda included:

  • An update from the European Commission on its Deforestation Communication and next steps in the legislative process.

  • Perspectives from Cargill and Nestle on the importance of the EU’s efforts, industry action to date and opportunities to accelerate progress, and views from Fern on the opportunity to deepen private sector engagement.

  • The priorities of Germany’s 2020 Council of the EU Presidency

  • Key outcomes from the TFA convened EU Roundtables to gather industry perspectives and next steps for TFA and opportunities to engage.

The meeting also marked the launch of the Tropical Forest Alliance Global Dialogue Series for a Forest-Positive Future. This will feature a monthly thematic deepdive showcasing how and where the Tropical Forest Alliance's partners are collectively making progress towards deforestation-free supply chains.
