15 October 2020 -- As part of its commitment to collaboration, transparency and accountability, The Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Forest Positive Coalition of Action has today launched a digital engagement platform as a tool to use in its ongoing dialogues with stakeholders from the NGO community and civil society. The platform, called Evergreen, will provide an online space for the Coalition, its members and stakeholders to collaborate, discuss and share knowledge.
The platform was announced by the Coalition’s co-chairs, Chris McGrath, Vice President and Chief of Global Impact, Sustainability, and Well-being, Mondelēz International, and Bertrand Swiderski, Sustainability Director, Carrefour, during a session at the CGF’s virtual Sustainable Retail Summit.
The session, entitled “Human Rights and Deforestation — Working Together to Drive Positive Impact,” brought together the Forest Positive Coalition with the Co-chairs of the CGF’s Human Rights Coalition — Working to End Forced Labour, Veronica Pountcheva of METRO AG and Brent Wilton of The Coca-Cola Company, on the shared ambition of the two Coalitions to build forest positive and forced labour-free supply chains.
Stakeholders who have previously engaged with the Coalition will be the first to receive invitations to join. The CGF will host a webinar for these stakeholders to introduce them to the platform. The webinar will be held on Thursday 29 October at two times in order to accommodate stakeholders around the globe. The first webinar will be held at 10 am CET/4 pm MYT and the second at 10 am EST/4 pm CET.
The Forest Positive Coalition consists of 18 consumer goods retailers and manufacturers from around the world with a shared commitment to leverage collective action and accelerate systemic efforts to remove deforestation, forest degradation and conversion from key commodity supply chains.
