22 September, 4.00-5.00pm CEST / 10.00-11.00am EDT
The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) is launching its new Forest Positive Coalition of Action, which has been created by members of the CGF with the ambition to drive collective action on creating a forest positive future for the planet.
This session will explore the objectives of the Coalition, the new roadmaps for palm oil, soy and paper and packaging. It will also highlight how the Coalition - led by retailers and manufacturers who are committed to moving quickly and effectively per the Coalition Charter - will improve private sector transparency and engagement with key stakeholders from civil society, governments and the investment community.
It's time the consumer goods industry talked-the-talk, and the new Forest Positive Coalition is committed to helping deliver the change that is needed by accelerating efforts to remove deforestation from commodity supply chains and encouraging more transformational change in key commodity landscapes. This will be supported by four key actions: we will engage with suppliers and traders; we will ensure transparency and accountability; we will collaborate on production landscapes; and we will engage governments and stakeholders to find joint solutions.
The session will bring together CEO speakers, procurement and sustainability experts and other stakeholders across various formats. The audience will include private sector, civil society and government actors, all with an interest in mainstreaming the issue of deforestation and who are committed to being part of the solution.
This event is part of the Climate Week Food and Land Use programme.
The Consumer Goods Forum is the only organisation that brings consumer goods retailers and manufacturers together globally. It is a CEO-led organisation that helps the world’s retailers and consumer goods manufacturers to collaborate, alongside other key stakeholders, to secure consumer trust and drive positive change. With its global reach, CEO leadership and focus on retailer-manufacturer collaboration, the CGF is in a unique position to make a change and help address key challenges impacting the industry, including environmental and social sustainability, health, food safety and product data accuracy. This is done for the benefit of both people and the planet, as well as our businesses, ensuring better lives through better business.
